It all began with a thread
A thread in a woman's hand, on a veranda in Macapá, at the far north of Brazil. No business plan, no collection — only a gesture repeated until it became form.
Origin
Amapá
Fio e Areia was born in Amapá, where the Amazon meets the Atlantic and the Equator crosses the city. A place of vertical light, dense humidity and slow time — three things present inside every piece that leaves here.
The maison grew from the inside out: first the hands of local artisans, then the name, then the clients — today spread across the United States, Europe and the Middle East. The geography was never diluted to please an international market. The opposite is true: it is Amapá that travels.
We work in limited production because there is no other honest way to work. Each piece is recorded, numbered and finished by a single artisan, from the first to the last knot.
